Belated Birthday Package!

Who doesn't love a belated birthday present?!
(3 months belated, to be exact!!)

Today, I walked into the front office and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a package with what looked like my best friend Sarah's writing!  Sure enough, it WAS in deed a package from Sarah!  I was smiling from ear to ear!  When I got upstairs to my classroom, I ripped it open and was immediately in awe of Sarah's creativity!  She made these adorable cloth flowers for me that I can use as hair pins, a broach on my sweaters, on my purse... Wherever!  When my students came in this morning, they spotted the flowers on my desk and immediately began begging me to give them one!  She already has fans in Korea!

I love you Sarah, and I love my belated birthday present and your sweet note!***
Thank you soooo much!

Origamis!

I vividly remember the day I learned how to make this kind of origami... I was sitting outside the principal's office at Masuda Middle School (NOT because I was introuble!), and I was so excited about this new creation I was able to make!  It's amazing how our brains retain details of how to fold paper for so many years, isn't it?!

Today, 17 years later, I taught my students how to make them too!

English Summer Camp!

There are a lot of positives to working in a small school, ie: I only had 5 students signed up for my English summer camp this week!  And only 4 showed up yesterday, and ONLY 2 TODAY, because of the big storm outside!  So, yesterday's class included making a Jib Jab video and watching Justin Bieber videos! Hey when you only have 4 students, you can study hard for 2 1/2 hours and then play for the last 30 minutes!  I love this job!

Inception with Aaron

Last night, Aaron and I went to Nampodong for date night, to see INCEPTION!
Before the movie started, I snapped this picture of us to document the moment, and realized,
WE REALLY DO LOOK LIKE BROTHER AND SISTER!

All about Aaron

A lot of you have probably been able to get to know Aaron through my blog posts, but I think he's worth writing an entire post about!

Aaron is my biggest fan (other than my mom and dad!)  He's from North Carolina and came to Korea at the same time I did, back in February 2009.  He's 6 months younger than me! :) He is also an English teacher here, and his school and apartment are really close to mine, so he picks me up and takes me to school every morning on the scooter!!  It's a great way to start my day!  He is very close with his family and has that good ole fashioned southern gentleman charm, without the crazy accent!  He's funny, smart, creative, caring, sensitive, protective, strong, giving, a great communicator, easy going, my best friend, unconditionally loving, an awesome cook, and all around wonderful!

When I was in the Philippines he asked me what I wanted to eat for dinner my first night back and I said, "I wanna go straight to a Bi Bim Bap restaurant!"  Instead, he surprised me by learning how to make it himself, from scratch, and had it prepared when I got home that night!  It was one of the best Dolsut Bi Bim Bap's I'd ever tasted!    I wonder, nearly everyday, how I got so lucky!
