When I searched for the video on youtube, I found out that K$sha sings the same song!  Apparently Ke$ha made a demo version of Run Devil Run and SNSD's record company bought it legally and the girls recorded it. Ke$ha never released this song, it actually leaked after SNSD released their version!   Consider yourself in the music biz loop and enjoy one of my favorite Korean songs! :)

Temple Stay

I officially completed my last day of my 1st week of English summer camp and am proud to say it went REALLY WELL!  

I'm headed downstairs to eat lunch with a couple of the teachers and then I'm jumping in the car with my principal to meet Ella, and another teacher at a bus station!  Then we'll drive 4 hours together, by bus, to Guinsa Temple in Chungcheongbuk-do province, where we will be spending the weekend, hiking, eating, sitting, and meditating in the swealtering heat!   It would be a lie if I said I'm looking forward to it.  At this point, I'm just pushing myself to go for the experience and the culture!

This is where I will be sleeping (approx 4-5 hrs a night) in the temple dormitory!

Baby Cayla Onesie!

One of my good friends from college, Amanda Cooper-Lebrecht (My RD when I was an RA) recently got married and is prego with her first baby, a little girl, who they are naming Cayla Lynn!  I was exstatic at the news and decided to make a little something for Cayla...  (*** For those of you who have been pregnant since I arrived in Korea, I'm sorry for not making anything for your little ones... I just got the Martha Stewart bug this week and had to create something!)

So, I went to Gukje Market to find a onesie and some fabric!  

I found a light pink onesie at an adorable shop for kiddos!  The rest of the fabric (for the flowers) was found at local thrift stores... 1,000 won a piece! (About .80 cents)  I bought a pink sparkly sweater, an avocado green vest, a polka dotted brown skirt and used the brown lining, an aqua and white polka dotted tank top, and a white silky feeling tank top!  Then, I stopped over at my favorite button store and picked up some wood buttons and a string of pink braiding for the letters and the stem of the flowers! 

Introduing my very first onesie creation!

I put her name, in Korean, on the back of the shirt.  *** After I finished the lettering, I looked at it and realized I glued the "L" sound backwards!  :(  It should look like this: ㄹ.  I tried to take it off and it wouldn't budge (darn fabric glue!), so I reluctantly convinced myself that it gave the onesie more character!

I had a lot of left over material, so I created an elastic headband too!   Thanks to my right hand designer, Aaron, who helped me figure out how to add the elastic!  :)

I hope she likes it! :)

International Hip Hip Contest!

Last night, Aaron and I ventured over to Haeundae Beach to check out the opening night of the International Hip Hop contest going on during the Sea Festival this week!

One of my favorite things about summer in Korea are the endless amounts of FREE beach events that go on through the month of August!  This is just the beginning of many sunset beach nights to come! :) 

If I were to guess, I'd say there were over 100,000 people, and somehow Aaron and I finagled seats in the 5th row!   Not too shabby, huh?!  :)  This was the "battle" between FRANCE and KOREA.  Enjoy!
