Jameson and Kelsey!

At this very moment, my little sister (x-in law), Kelsey, is walking down the isle to marry her best friend, Jameson! It's 8:30am here in Korea, and I'm up and thinking about them... practically bursting at the seems about their marriage! I know that they have found the right partner in each other and that makes me incredibly happy! Doesn't thate make it so much more exciting when you know a bride and groom are perfect for each other?!

I took this picture with them the last time I saw them (when I was home in February!) I told them I was going to save it for this blog! :)

So, Jameson and Kelsey, I love you and am so proud of you two! I hope your wedding day is magical, and I hope your marriage, life, and future family are blessed and filled with joy and happiness! (Sounds like a greeting card... I know! I'm sorry! But It's true!)

As we say in Korea, "Gumbhe!" (Cheers!)

Love always, your big sis!

Sharpening your pencil... Korean style!

Last year, Stella gave me some supplies for my desk... one being a box cutter! I was a little confused as to why I needed a box cutter, but I didn't ask. I just put it in my pencil drawer. Today, Kristy, one of my 4th grade girls, noticed it, sitting next to an unsharpened pencil in my desk, and asked, "Teacher, I sharpen for you?" I reluctantly answered, "Okay" and away she went, with no fear, I might add, and with excellent precision and technique!! :)

Can you believe that?! Come to find out, they (all of my elementary students) sharpen their pencils with box cutters!!! What the heck!?

Dinner with friends!

Aaron and I met Ann and Crystal in Kyungsung last night for some Dak Galbi (chicken, rice and cheese, grilled at your table), which was delicious! We shared funny teaching stories and laughed about experiences we've had while living here! If you ever want a good laugh, these are the girls to hang with!

After dinner, we walked over to Thursday Party to play some foosball and darts! Aaron and I won the foosball tournament. I like to think it was because of my excellent spinning abilities, and Aaron's years of experience as a real-life soccer goalie! Either way, we dominated!

After our first game of darts as the 4 of us, a table of Koreans asked if we wanted to play together, so we obliged, of course! Once again, we were victroious! It was a great way to end the night! :)

Lesson 4: This is for you!

Yesterday, Ella and I taught our 3rd graders the phrases, "This is for you?" Then the other person asks, "What's this?" and the giver says, "It's a __________."

So, this morning, as the 3rd graders were walking into class, one of them handed me this gift and said, "Alexis, This is for you!"

I of course made a huge deal and said, "Oh my goodness! Thank you sooo much! What's this?!"

With a huge smile and a proud look on her face, she responded, "It's a ruler!"

hahah! Just what I've always wanted, A RULER!!! I love lesson 4!! I hope more of my students get the urge to pratice the phrase "This is for you" and I hope they practice on me! :)

I broke 200!

I realized I hadn't updated my list of Korean words that I know (left column of my blog) for a while, so I took a couple minutes to add more words that I've learned! I'm up to 209! Don't be fooled... I'm NOWHERE close to being fluent, but I guarantee you'd be impressed if you saw me in my korean element! :)
